Ten years ago, Snuggly Jacks came to life right at our mum's kitchen table. Every stitch, every fold, and every fabric choice was a labor of love. But behind our brand, there's a story that holds more depth than threads and needles
Most heart-driven projects derive from heartbreak. That is us. Two sisters trying to piece together our broken hearts and find a way to work through grief and create an everlasting memory of a little lost love.
Our Jack.
A precious little soul who spent only 3 days earthside following his traumatic entrance into the world.
Struggling with the senselessness of losing baby Jack, our healing process saw us needing to honour him and be able to keep him at the forefront of our minds. It was here that Snuggly Jacks was born. Our little namesake Jack is planted firmly in our hearts and our minds and with his name often passing through our lips, he is part of our brand and our story.
Whilst we may have lost Jack, we will always remember him. The Snuggly Jacks brand is his legacy and a reminder of the fragility of life and the power of love.
Jack was born on the 1st January 2014. After a long 36 hour labor and an emergency c-section, Jack entered the world with no heart beat. He was immediately intubated and for 9 long minutes doctors fought to bring him back to us. When his heart finally started beating again, he was transferred to the Mater Mothers Hospital NICU ward in emergency care.
For 3 long days he underwent almost every possible test to determine the extent of his injuries. Finally on day four we were told that his brain had no remaining functionality and that he was being kept alive only by machines. Amylee and Thiago made the decision that no parent should ever have to make, and they chose to turn Jacks life support off.
On January 4th at 11:45am, Jack took his final breath as he snuggled into his daddy's arms for the very first time.
